Spring Break

I decided that today I would give you a break from all of my bori  exciting NYC adventures and give you a peek at my garden.  We do have spring around here, we are not always a frozen tundra.  Case in point:

 Gratuitous artsy photo above.

We have forget me nots everywhere in the spring.  I love them.

Everything's coming right along.
I'm sure everyone's tulips are long gone, but ours are just blooming now.  As are the yucky adorable dandelions.
My rhododendron is in full bore:

So pretty. Don't you wish they lasted all summer?

Our little pond.  I love to hear the fountain, it's so peaceful.  I've seen photos of some of your gardens and I am green with envy, they are so gorgeous.  It would probably help mine if I worked in it once in a while.  That sums up my picture show for today gentle readers.  Carry on.

A Sneak Peek!

Hello, gentle readers!  Yesterday I promised a peek at my Studio.  my friend insists I must call the room my Studio because I'm worth it.  So Studio it is.
You will notice the small table to the left.  My father made this for me quite a while ago.  I would show him a picture in a magazine and he would whip it right up.  My hubby made the slipcover for this old chair several years ago.  It was made from drop cloths when they were very heavy and white.  It washes like a charm.  The lampshade is a Rachel Ashwell shabby chic lampshade that I bought on Ebay for $9.99.  Yes, people, $9.99 and still in the cellophane!

This is a chandelier my hubby is installing for me.

And finally here are some bits and bobs I've had for a long time just waiting for my own space!  When I finally get everything together I'll have more pictures for you.
Thank you for your patience.  Carry on.

Just Shoot Me Tuesday

I borrowed my daughter's camera on the weekend to try out because I'm planning on buying a new camera for myself. The old Kodak Easy Share just ain't doing it for me anymore.
Everyone's blog has such gorgeous pictures. Mine does not. My husband couldn't understand why our camera wasn't doing it for me. When he saw these photos he immediately understood.
Anyway, I'm still practicing and I want to know from you, Dear Reader, what kind of camera you own.
By the way I received these beautiful tulips for Valentines Day. The man is definitely a keeper!

A Place of My Own

Ever since I was a little girl, I've always wanted a dollhouse. My favourite toys were always miniatures of something, be it dolls or houses. A few years ago, when we first became empty nesters, I decided to fulfill my life long dream of owning a dollhouse. Thank you Ebay! We don't live near a large enough city, so all my purchases came from online. I've made a few things but mostly bought the furniture, etc. There are lots of great blogs and other online sources with tons of ideas.
The living room rug is hand stitched. The walls are Benjamin Moore Natural Linen and the tea set is real silver in honour of my hubby who collects real size silver. The little mat at the foot of the stairs was made by me stitched totally in french knots which mimics rug hooking. My husband wired the house for me and the lighting just brings the place alive. You notice I have a dining room table but no chairs, still hunting for the perfect ones. I think if you click on the pics they will get bigger.
Thanks to Jayme of Tales from the Coop Keeper she has got me going on my dollhouse again. I kind of put in the background lately. Next time I'll post pictures of the kitchen. Stay tuned!

Last minute wedding cake

Okay blogger posted these backwards, but here is the finished cake. TaDa!

We had an unexpected wedding this past September. Daughter#2 was recently engaged and set her wedding date for October 2010. However in her true impatient fashion, she decided to get married the end of September this past year. We had one week to pull a wedding together! After everything was done I decided I had a new career called Last Minute Wedding Planners. She won't let me post a picture of her but I am going to post her wedding cake. I made it. I never made a wedding cake before (and hope to never again). Baking it was the easy part, decorating it not so much. I watched 20 million youtube videos on buttercream icing and fondant. My hubby is a handy guy so he helped me.
