The Hair and Now
It's a good thing you gals leave comments. Thanks Becky! I had planned to post a recent photo of Daughter #2 the next day and totally forgot. Here she is... Daughter #2 is on the right, daughter #1 on the left.

Hair Today Gone Tomorrow
I'm gonna have to do a lot of apologizing for doing this post. One, for the title and all kinds to daughter #2. Last spring, my daughter agreed to shave her head in order to raise money for the regional children's hospital. Her fellow employees raised the money in record time to ensure she got her head shaved. Here are the gory details in pictures. She looks like she's about 12 years old but she's really 24. I know, I had her when I was 12.
I don't know whether I'm laughing or crying in this one.
Oh yes, she wants to do it again this year!

Waiting for Spring
Here in the arctic er, the Maritimes the winters can be long, cold, and dreary. What's a snow hating, cold hating couple do on these long winter evenings? No, not that, we sew, we quilt, we... wait, that's all I know how to do!
My husband is a renaissance man, he can build, he can teach, he can preach and he can also sew! He has made all the curtains in our home, slipcovers and upholestry too. My mum was an avid quilter and I always knew that one day I'd be sorry I never learned. Well, that day arrived a little over a year ago when my mum passed away. After going through tons of my mum's quilting fabric, patterns, etc. the DM decided he would make a quilt and he did. This is that quilt. The cute little girl you see in the picture on the right is me. 'nough said.
I on the other hand make pillows. I used a silkscreen to make the one pictured above. So that is how we fill our long winter evenings except for Monday when 24 is on!

Meanwhile...back at the bathroom?
I know you girls have been wondering where my craft room is. There's been a major delay because the Dear Man herein referred to as DM decided to finish the bathroom first. Oh yes, ladies the bathroom is torn apart too. He has to get bathroom supplies he stored in the craft room out of there so DM decided he might as well just finish the bathroom instead of moving everything around 100 times.
So here are some pictures of the bathroom to assault your senses. Enjoy!

Breaking up is hard to do
Several ladies out here in blogland have recently given up sugar. This is a good idea for several reasons not the least being losing weight. I decided to join the crowd a couple of weeks ago and I am pleased to report that I have lost weight but more importantly, I found I just feel so much better generally.
So goodbye Pepsi, goodbye Tim's double chocolate donuts (sob), goodbye iced tea(sniff). I have loved you lots but it's time to move on. From now on its water, hummus, and carrot sticks. Yessiree I'm living large. (no pun intended)

Our living room
My husband upholstered these chairs and made the drapes. He's good like that.
Notice I don't stage pictures!
I love this room but I'm tired of the traditional look.
Oh, I silkscreen those pillows too. The two wing chairs I have since given to daughter #2. I'd like to lighten up the room and clean out a lot of things. I have the dreaded decorating ADD. I can't finish one thing before starting another!
Cheers!

Last minute wedding cake
Okay blogger posted these backwards, but here is the finished cake. TaDa!
We had an unexpected wedding this past September. Daughter#2 was recently engaged and set her wedding date for October 2010. However in her true impatient fashion, she decided to get married the end of September this past year. We had one week to pull a wedding together! After everything was done I decided I had a new career called Last Minute Wedding Planners. She won't let me post a picture of her but I am going to post her wedding cake. I made it. I never made a wedding cake before (and hope to never again). Baking it was the easy part, decorating it not so much. I watched 20 million youtube videos on buttercream icing and fondant. My hubby is a handy guy so he helped me.

To paint or not to paint
This picture really doesn't have anything to do with today's post except that I'm housebound and wondering what I should do next. The floors in my craft room need something done to them and I'm not sure what to do. I was going to sand and stain them but my impatient gene kicked in and said Paint! Paint! The problem is I don't know what colour to paint it. Can anybody out there help me? Please? Remember the walls are creamy white.

A walk in the clouds
Gee , I think I`m starting a trend of giving my blog post movie titles! I just finished painting my craft room. I always use Benjamin Moore paint. I`m not getting paid for this or anything I just love the quality of their paint. My favourite go to colour is Cloud White. See my post title? Get it?? I surprise myself sometimes with my wit. Anyway since we have an older home re: very old I love using the Benjamin Moore historic colours but my trim is pretty much always Cloud white. It has a tiny bit of cream in it so the white is not stark or cold. When (if) I finish the craft room you'll see I did the whole thing in white. So my husband sees my paint job and says he loves the white, he says we should paint the whole house white. I am seeing red, I said"you wouldn't let me before!" Of course he denies saying that!! If I can get my groove on, the dining room may change too. I'll show photos of that room soon, we did a lot of work in there awhile ago.
Have a good weekend!

New craft room
This used to be our den when we first moved into our home. We never really used the room so I've decided to make into a craft room just for me. Sorry I don't have before pics, our old computer died and every thing on it! I'm at the painting stage and then I want to redo the wooden floor boards. My husband and I do most of the work ourselves.
My first post
