More Time Travel.

When I was a teenager I liked to refinish old furniture.  I used to love to strip off the years of old black varnish and make the piece look nice again.  My grandmother gave me a rocking chair back then because she was impressed by my skill(!) She took me over to an old storage shed behind the house and there up in the rafters was an old rocking chair.  My grandmother collected rocking chairs like there was no tomorrow.  We got the dusty old piece down(the chair I mean) and I set to work.  Et voila!  When my grandmother saw the chair all done up, she wanted it back!  The nerve!
I just dug it out of our old shed because #2 wants a rocking chair for the soon to arrive baby.  I rocked her and her sister many an hour in this old gal.

I love the carving on the back.

Doesn't she look so happy!  The end is near.

What number is this on your list of talents!

Your daughter looks lovely in great grandma's chair but I'm sure she's ready for that near end!

Maybe you can pass off that beautiful chair with the old photo as a two-for-one deal. Great carving!

Poor, lucky #2.
Love that rocking chair.
Don't let anyone paint it.

FYI- I hate having my picture taken. I know I don't look impressed, but I do appreciate the chair!! Once I get a mat to put underneath of it I will take a picture and post it on my blog!

What a gorgeous daughter! And what a marvellous old chair.

I swear by the rocking chair. They work miracles on a tired, cranky baby, don't they?

I love to rock. So soothing.

I do think the rocking chair is as beneficial to the mummy as the baby sometimes. Did you ever find yourself rocking the shopping trolly full of groceries? How exciting for you all! New babies rock!

Pamela-You're welcome.

Raz- The baby is due October 9th.

Annie-I love a good rock.
Lilli- I promise not to paint it.
MMMC- I need soothing as well as the baby to be.

Rocking chairs rock. I used to study on one, I could be so concentrated while rocking.
You daughter really can't take it anymore, she's done!!

That chair is beautiful! Perfect for the new baby. It's so nice that you have it to hand down to your daughter. I'm sure she'll enjoy many hours rocking in that chair.

Gorgeous rocker, lovely mother. You'll have to engrave the names of those who have been rocked under the seat or something. (Now there's a job for a grandfather-to-be!)

She is a beautiful mama-to-be. I know y'all are just busting at the seams to meet that baby.

One of the saddest things I had to give away in our downsizing was our rocking chair. It was a wedding gift from my college roommates, and was used to rock all my babies. We just couldn't keep it though.
