Broken Item of the Week.

Yes folks, it's that time again.  Yesterday Daughter #1 came over and we trimmed the tree.  I was in the kitchen so I know it wasn't me when I heard a tinkle of breaking glass in the living room.  This is what I found:

Now don't feel badly.  All of our ornaments are glass and many are vintage from my tree and Mr LC's from our childhood.  This little house is fairly new.  No one is copping to the crime.  Let me show you the front of the ornament and you'll see why we were all kind of relieved the thing broke.

Does that house look like a face to you?  It does to us and it's kind of creepy.  I think the tree may have thrown the thing off because it was embarrassed to be wearing such a decoration.  I guess we'll never know.

It's a little bit Yuletide and a little bit Amityville hora! It was probably hurled off the tree by its own poltergeist -not the cat, the daughter or the elfin behooded one. I find it very thoughtful that even at this busy time you are giving us broken items. Tradition is so important at Christmas!

Ha!

Maybe it was a bat in the tree...I'm just paranoid this morning, we had a bat flying around the house last night!

I agree, glad you're keeping the tradition going! :)

I agree, it wasn't really a keeper...I am glad you saw a face in this house...I see houses with faces and my husband thinks I'm losing it.

Well done daughter #1

Well, it is a little creepy. I imagine if I were sitting on the couch and that house were staring at me, I'd get a little nervous. Glad it wasn't one of the sentimental ornaments. My husband has been accusing me of breaking his snoopy ornament. I'm convinced his mom never gave it to us. CONVINCED, I tell you.

You must feel uneasy when something doesn't break.

Breaking stuff's the norm at your place.

I'm just glad it wasn't Mr. LC's mug...

Glad it was a creepy ornament anyway...I have a few that I wouldn't mind having that same fate...

I see faces on houses, the back of trucks, trees... can't help it. I think you should start being worried about the rest of your furniture breaking stuff now... it started with the tree...

Oh alright, it does look slightly creepy, but someone who blogs under the name Loyalist COTTAGE should perhaps feel the teensiest bit of heart ache when something vaguely cottage-shaped breaks? No? Oh alright then.

I'm with the rest though: good thing it wasn't mr. LC's mug. He'd have flung his cap/hat/thing on the floor in frustration. ;-)
