Let's Have a Cup or Two...or Three...or Four.

I've been feeling a bit blue lately by things over which I have no control so I decided to get my self a little pick me up.  I was shopping online as I'm wont to do when down in the dumps.  I fill up my cart and then delete everything.  So fun. Cheap too.

However, I was perusing Pier One because it's Springville there don't you know when I spotted these little ditties.

I went to the store and bought them.  They are really sweet.

Measuring cups!  How cute are they!  I have a set of ye old yellow Tupperware ones and after 31 years I figured I earned some new measuring cups. Here's the link Pier One Canada Then I checked the US website just for kicks because I like to torture myself like that. Here's the link Did anybody check the price difference?  The US price is $11.18 on sale.  The Canadian price is $16.38 on sale.  What???  The Canadian dollar is up this week.  No wonder I'm depressed.

p.s. I just checked on Etsy and my old measuring cups are now vintage.  Well, I never.

Don't you know it's dangerous to shop when you're down....you're supposed to rake the yard or something. :)

I do like your new ones and after 31 years, you do deserve a new set BUT...can I say that I really love the old tupperware ones.

Do you have a 'vintage' yellow tupperware sugar dispenser...the one where the whole side lifts up? I've been searching forever for one.

Cheer up!!!

oooh! Can I have your old ones?!?!?! They are still better than my 'new' ones.

Also, your new ones are super cute.

They will brighten your kitchen up and make you smile everytime you use them.

Hope you feel better soon...

The new measuring cups are sweet, Deb. Maybe you could sell the old ones on etsy to help pay for the new ones.

You know, you are funny even when you feel blue. It must be a gift.

I laughed out loud at the filling up of the shopping cart and then deleting everything. That's so funny.

Love your measuring cups! Will you be baking us something?

Yes, I find you amusing whether or not your miserable or deliriously happy. That is a gift.

I do love your new measuring cups. They are just 'you'. I hope you cheer-up soon.xo

I, too, am guilty of the moody internet purchase, in fact I just acquired two Danish pieces of ceramics in an effort to cheer-up.

PS. I heard on the radio this morning that electrical power in Canada is about 100% cheaper than power in Australia. Who've thought?

We had the same measuring cups growing up. Ours were orange. I bet my mom still uses them.

DEB!!! Those are the EXACT measuring cups I grew up with. The same color even! Awww :)

lol - one brave lady, huh? Thanks a lot! I do like the shower curtain, though.

And I'm sorry you're down. I'll pray for you tonight.

Love your new cups...they are so spring-y! And I have a couple of the Tupperware measuring cups left, too...and I am way more vintage (older) than you are. Hope you feel better soon, Deb! XO

Those are super-cute measuring cups. I think we all succumb to retail therapy at times. It's fun in the moment and isn't it nice to get a package in the mail? It's like two doses of fun for the price of one...a bargain even at $16. ;-)

Hope things perk up for you. If there's anything we can help with or pray for you about, please don't hesitate to speak up.

Now, what are you gonna make with those new cups?

How smart. Fill the cart and then empty it. I think It all soon become my new hobby. Like I needed one.
When I want to cheer myself up I buy books and cds. To be sure they are not a let down I buy almost exclusively stuff I already know. i don't like to take risks when I'm depressed. But when they arrive in the mailbox I usually feel great. So my purchases are useless! I'll feel guilty for the money I have spent and could have saved, get depressed again and buy something online. And then on and on and on...

I know...I grew up with those yellow measuring cups...actually we had them in avocado green too! And now they are vintage? Funny...I can't believe they are 31 years old. Gosh I'm old.

My Tupperware measuring cups were bought in the 1980s and are the ever-so-much-more-stylish burnt orange colour of Maggie's mother's (prev. commenter). Meh. They measure.

I've got the winter blahs, too, which is kind of weird as the winter in Newfoundland really hasn't been that bad, but whatever. If it ever warms up, I'm sure I'll snap out of it.

Apparently, it was 31 degrees in Rothesay today? I think that would help me.

The price differences between Canada and the US are crazy. The dollar & Loony have been playing with par for years now, why are things still priced higher in Canada? Every time I visit Nova Scotia I see it right in front of me - so stupid.

I like both the new and the old. I hope the new ones aren't breakable!! You know, I don't own a set of measuring spoons, so I may take your lead and rectify that. I hope you cheer up a little. xx

Those cups are really adorable - I never knew I needed measuring cups before, but I'm sure now!

Sorry to hear about the blues - hope the cups and grand baby help cheer you up!

Dear Debs sorry to hear you have been feeling a bit dumpers, hope you are feeling on better form now, probs I don't bake enough but dare I say that I don't have measuring cups - here recipes are by weight so scales vital rather than cups...xx
