The Seven Year Itch.

Today dawned bright and sunny.  The temperature was slightly warm even.  Mr LC bounded out of the house bright and early to work outside.  He scampered around the pasture testing the fence and cleaned out the barn for Sassy.

Then he decided to install the outside light next to our front door.  We figured out that light fixture had been sitting in the coat closet for seven years.  Seven years people.

He carefully placed all his tools in the wheelbarrow next to the front door. What.  Don't you have a wheelbarrow parked at your front door?

After measuring and cutting the hole for the light, he placed the shingles on the ground the same way they would go back on the house.

Isn't he smart!

Then daughter #2 and her hubby showed up.  Son-in-law #2 knows all about this stuff.  Mr LC was very glad to see him.

Look, there's dust on that wall!

He is a wiring wizard.

Grandson helped in a  supervisory capacity.

My poor old rusty star just got tossed to the ground.  She used to hang where the light fixture is now.

And now may I present to you-  THE LIGHT!!!!

Gulp.  How do I tell Mr LC that I don't like it anymore???

hahahaha!!! I'm in tears.

You are such happy spot in my day...I would love to spend a day with you and Mr. LC....

I love it. you don't, really? It looks so pretty with the gray/blue shingles.

I think you quietly talk to your son in law and switch it out when Mr. LC isn't home.

Now that it's wired it'll be easy for you to switch out one day when he's napping by the fire. He'll never notice.

This might be a stupid question but don't the shingles go back on first?

LOL! I think you'll have to live with it now, even if you don't like it. ;-)

It's a fine light anyway. You'll probably like it better when it's dark outside.

I echo "Urban Cottage".
And, I'm shocked that this did not end up with a broken item of the week, just sayin'

Hi Deb..For some reason I have missed a few posts.. Sorry..
If Mr. LC is anything like hubby dearest perhaps you should wait another seven years.. grin..
Just joking... I know he has a patient spirit..
God bless...

I was thinking the same thing as Steve about the shingles.

I say you wait until Mr. LC has gone off for the day, then invite SIL to lunch and get him to switch out the light.

Oh I really like the light. I have no idea about shingles, so I wouldn't know if you put them on first or last ... I guess you're going to find out.

Did Mr LC wear a special light-fixing hat?

I think that grandson of yours is quite the cutest fellow I've seen in a long time! Burp cloths ... those were the days!

You don't need to tell him now do you? If a brick fell on it or a heavy bird then it COULD be Broken Item of the Week and you'd be off the hook. Really though if it took seven years to get it just avert your eyes and ignore it!

Eh, it's wired now! Easy to swap out, just have your son-in-law do it really sneaky-like and all will be right with the world!

I like it! Look at it on the bright side (literally), and discover how much you enjoy a lit porch.

LOL! It takes me forever to get anything done because I always change my mind about things in the middle of the project...sometimes I just don't say ANYTHING...
