Hard Times, Bleak House et al

There are hard times here at the LC gentle readers.  I'm out of blogging fodder.  People have even suggested that I break something so I can have my Broken Item of the Week entry.  People!  This blog is nothing if I have no integrity in my writing.
You just can't make this stuff up!

Anyway, I have spent the last week sorting and purging.  Two car loads to the donation shop, two carloads of paper, cardboard, etc to the recycle bins.  While going through numerous bureau drawers I happened on these two little pieces that I had entirely forgotten about.

I cannot even remember where they came from.
This one is from the same place.
They are fairly small and very cute. I just found them last night.  I don't dare show them to my hubby because he'll want to keep them.  He was away last week when I got rid of things.  He's fine with it as long as he doesn't see what's in the boxes that are leaving the house.  Does anyone else have any Dickens souvenir china?

On a more serious note and also befitting the title of this post, can you please include the people of Brisbane, Australia and surrounding areas in your thoughts and prayers?  Massive rainfall and flash floods are taking lives and wrecking havoc on this lovely place.  I have friends in this area and they are safe but there are lots of those who are not faring so well.

The flooding in Australia is very, very tragic. Prayers for all those involved; they must be overwhelmed by the shock and magnitude of this disaster.

I almoust feel a bit guilty for loving your broken items (better get those jars out of the house before they break).

I think of Brisbane all the time... it's strange, 6 months ago I hardly knew where it was. Now, it's a constant worry.

Tell me you fixed that little pocelain dog and you kept it.

I too think of Australia all the time. And I am so sorry because I've seen floods at close range and they are scaring. Nature it's rebelling.

I just heard an update on the flooding on my way home today. Very sad and scary.

And I thought you were going to say that if your husband saw the bone china he might break it.

I am so proud of you for purging. Doesn't it feel great??

Hi Deb thank you for your kind and thoughts and prayers and words of support. It means sooo much. The water is set to peak this afternoon and then tomorrow morning early about 3am so there is a lot worse to come. It is just heart breaking children and families have lost their lives and whole communities have been washed away. knowing that those far away hold us in their thoughts is very special, xxx Katherine

The film on Australia's flooding is terrible. I can't imagine watching my whole community being washed away. Australia is in my prayers.

Hi Deb,
Take a little winter break and the fodder will start flowing again! I love your blog because it's so real and you're wonderful...what other real things are going on at the LC?
Australia breaks my heart...I keep praying.

Oh Deb, you're an angel. Clumsy, but angelic. I keep thanking the good Lord that we're fine ... so many aren't so many little lives lost and ceramics washed away!

My mind wanders to how awful it must be clinging to a tree or trying to hold onto someone you love as the waters pull you apart. It's awful.

Never imagined I'd see the day ... and the bloody sun's out.

Thanks Deb for thinking of people so far away and giving us a laugh at the expense of your tiny terrier. Do you have children with soccer balls trapped inside your house in the rain? I bought a great West German vase the other day and wonder if I should be hiding it in a pillowy cupboard till the kids are released back into the wild.

Hi! Came by this morning, but got distracted and couldn't comment. Cool mugs you found!

I feel very bad for the people in Australia. I always hate to hear about natural disasters. Certainly keeping them in my prayers.

I'm sure you'll get your bogging mojo back soon! Don't go breaking things on purpose. ;-)

You snowed in?? Seems like everyone, everywhere has lots of snow today. Personally I'm looking for someone without snow to go visit! :-)
