Do I Know You?

Some of the bloggers I read have mentioned how embarrassed they are when someone they actually know reads their blog. Count me in!  It feels like my mother reading my diary as a teenager. It's not as if I was lying or being misleading in any way. I don't know why. It just feels weird.  I don't tell anyone in the real world I have a blog.  I did when I first started but as I kept on writing I didn't want anyone that I actually knew reading this silliness.

However, like all rules, there is an exception.  That would be my hubby's cousin.  We only meet up once a year, if that, and I would like to claim her and her sister as my own flesh and blood. Usually, the few times we do meet  it's because of a death in the family and that's no fun.
So, the most recent meeting was at the funeral for my hubby's sister-in-law. Cousin told me she loves reading my blog and gets a kick out of my many visits to Homesense.  She told me she was at a fea market this summer and saw a blue and white plate she wanted to buy.  Her husband asked her why she wanted it as she had no blue and white.  Cousin told him it was for me because she could tell from my blog that I loved blue and white dishes.  How lovely and thoughtful is that!  Here it is:

She noticed that I didn't have a square plate so she got this for me!  It is about eight inches square and very heavy.  I love it!

So cousin, you can read my blog anytime but just don't tell anyone else about it okay?! Unless they want to send gifts of course.

How does everyone else feel about people they know in real life reading their blog?

Well, I don't mind that my stalker reads it; she was the first person I told. Actually, the only person. The Artist likes to 'promote' it to other friends and family, and I have to kick him under the table. : )

Having a blog is like Halloween; you can be whomever you want to be. I've gotten a few really nasty comments and I don't (try not to)let them bother me because that nasty person doesn't even know me. I've also kind of wondered whether or not I'd have more followers if I were a woman. 90 percent of blogs seem to be by and for women. I might start a new blog as a woman and see how many people I can get to tag along. Would that make me a drag queen? Oh, maybe I'll be a vegan too. Wait! A vegan woman with a passion for brown transferware that has images of cows.

You know my opinion, crazy Canadian lady whose Apple Crisp recipe I finished off last night!

That dish is delightful! There's nothing that says "I love you" more than a gift from someone you know that is just perfectly chosen for you.

Your cousin-in-law obviously knows you completely, and you're always in her thoughts!

Nope, I haven't told anyone in my real world about my blog except my husband - just because he's sometimes forced to take pictures!
I like it being my own thing - my own expression and to where I don't have to live up to anyone's expectations. I would tell more people though if it got me gifts also! :)
Have a great weekend Deb ~

I have several real life friends and family that read my blog. One of my friends owns a shop here in town and I won't see her for weeks and I'll want to get caught up and she already knows what's been going on with me from reading my blog. Kind of weird, but I'm okay with it. She told me the mail lady for downtown reads my blog too. Strange, but this is what I signed on for, I guess.

Beautiful plate!

I feel weird about it too, but now lots of people I know read my blog. Actually, most of them got bored with it after a short time and quit reading. My own family doesn't really read, except my mom; however, lots of people in my hubby's family do. People I have not yet met. Odd, huh?

I can't seem to get mine to read my silly blog. I started it because they kept calling me for recipes. I figured it would be easier for them to log on and print out the recipes. Nope, they got to the grocery store, stand in the aisle, and call me for the recipe. Silly family...but I love them.

I'm the same way! It is funny, because through blogging I've met people online that I'd love to meet in real life, but there are so many people in real life that I just don't want to 'meet' my online self.

I'm comfortable with my mom and sister reading, and a few other distant relatives, but other people I actually would make me feel odd. Like if they read my blog and interact with me in real life, that they would know too much about me or something. Makes it too one-sided unless I read their blog too!
