Books. I have been reading books. Then every few weeks I'll have a book sort out and get rid of a box full. Soooo, I have determined that if I have an e-reader I will not have books lying around to trip over, dust, lose, etc. You get the drift.
I invested in one of these:
I did some research and because I am
Don't be distressed though, I still love real books, the feel of the paper, the smell... I am keeping all of my well loved favourites and you can't enjoy a cookbook or a decor book on a little screen.
So far, I'm enjoying the e-reader. I hope I don't wear it out!

Those are so popular now, let me know how you like it. I always get on the bandwagon late...lol! I think everyone had an I-pod before me.
I've been thinking of switching over myself...I like the idea of being able to switch font sizes to make it easier to read!
I don't know Deb, this hurts my heart a little
I think they're great for traveling. Much easier to carry one of those around than lug a suitcase of books. I also like that there are lots of FREE books available, and if your library supports the reader, even more FREE books. : ) I like FREE books can you tell?
I'm sure you'll love it! Congrats on your new toy and long live technology. :-)

i can't bring myself to do it. let me know how it goes.
Apparently these contraptions are wonderful. I don't have one, but those I know whow are in the know, tell me so. Especially with travel, commuting etc. So they tell me.
I've been eating my words too lately. Not of the book variety.
Every morning I see almost every person on the train with one in hand. My commute is so short it's barely worth me opening a book but I think they're especially perfect for commuters. I would definitely have one if I had more time to read.
Wow! You are a trail blazer, Canadian wife to One, Mother to Two, Grandmother to Itty-Bitty.
I'm excited to say I know you. I have no idea how those things work. I think a 'thumbs-up' is required.
Oh my!!!I got one this week also. Like you I made sure that I investigated every part of it. I like it except for my Bible.
You can't skip all the way to certain books of the Bible, so it's not going to be worth anything during church. now unless I'm missing something.
Sorry we didn't visit while in NB, but we didn't get a chance.
I am always saying that there is no way I will replace my REAL books.. Perhaps, I will eat my words... Please let me know how you like it..
Blessings.
Hello All.
So far I really like it. I never thought I would. All those FREE books are amazing!
I know what you mean. My cousin had a kindle and I told her I just didn't think I could ever give up the feel of a book in my hand - plus I was thinking that if I fall asleep reading and my book falls on the floor no real damage, but if an e-reader falls on the floor it could be catastrophic. But then that free ipad seduced me and I now love reading books on it. I have all the reader apps (kindle, nook, etc.) and I can even check out books from the county library. It's the greatest for traveling - even if it's just traveling from my house to the high school swimming pool. For those of us with a slight case of reading ADD (and by that I mean having more than one book going at a time) it's great to haul them all along with you so you can read whatever strikes your fancy.
I have a kindle app on my phone-it is pretty convenient!
I thought about getting an e-reader too, but I have and addiction to paper smell and I like to collect books. But sometimes I read junk, just because I still want to read something but i'm too tired to concentrate, and that is when an e- reader could be of use.
