True Romance part Deux

Yesterday I shared with you the lovely gift of a door that hubby bought for me.  The project is not totally finished because nothing ever gets totally done around here but here she is. Voila.....

Can you tell, yet?  It is a headboard!!!  I saw this in Canadian House and Home many years ago and in many other places since then.  I have been scouting for the proper old door for years and then hubby pops home with a new one.  Who would have thought you could buy a brand new interior door for just $9.99?

We were thinking of finishing it off with a piece of molding across the top, but now I'm not too sure.  This is probably the only picture you will see of this hot mess room.  The walls are painted white so do I paint the headboard a different colour or not?

Finally, I just wanted to show off my beautiful hydrangeas.  The horses we used to have ate them every year but thankfully Sassy does not.  She knows what's good for her.

Whoa! I love it! For 9.99?! Seriously. And I think whether you paint it another color or not, it's lovely... it depends on what you're going for, right? If you want sort of soothing, calm, and peaceful, I say leave it. If you're looking for something more colorful & fun, or even kind of old fashionedish, you could paint it... maybe a subtle pink, light blue or aqua would look lovely with your quilt (I love how Layla @ the lettered cottage paired pinks, blues, and aquas in the vacation cottage she just did - I'm thinking something like that could be fun).

Also, I love this quote so much, "The project is not totally finished because nothing ever gets totally done around here" You are too funny!!

nice! I say leave it as it is, white and no molding, but paint your walls a soft whisper of blue!

The door looks great. And I'm very impressed with your hydrangea! I'm not having any luck with them.

Love it as is! Brilliant idea. I've never seen white hydrangeas ... only blue and purple.

I have always wanted to have a headboard made from a door. Like you, I have admired the idea for many years. Yours turned out great. You should tell us how you did it. Did you just attach it to the wall? Or the bed frame?

I am a fan of all shades of white. But it would be fun to highlight the headboard a little. I'd live with it for awhile and keep my eyes open for others that you see.

Your hydrangeas are so lovely. They are among my very favorite flower.
